Selected for the International Steering Group (ISG) - The
Netherlands
United Network of Young Peacebuilders (UNOY), the Netherlands base
youth organization working toward to develop a culture of peace and
non violence around the world selected Shakti Ghimire, founder and
President of Idea Action as a new member of The International
Steering Group (ISG). The ISG is a new body in the UNOY
Peacebuilders network that was developed as part of the
restructuring in 2006/2007 and that decides on the focus of the work
of the International Secretariat in The Hague and the network. The
ISG consists of four members of the network next to two from the
International Secretariat and one member of the board.
This new team will have the chance to get deeply involved in the
network, decide on its main focus and be involved in selecting the
new member organizations. Additionally, the ISG will give them the
opportunity to exchange experiences and knowledge with a small group
of experts in the fields of youth work and peacebuilding. The next
important phase will be the first face-to-face meeting of the ISG
which is planned for November 2007 in the Netherlands at the UNOY
Peacebuilders office in The Hague. In this meeting the newly formed
ISG team will decide on the selection of the new member
organizations in the network, discuss the thematic focus of UNOY
Peacebuilders for the coming year and select projects that will be
further developed in cooperation with the International Secretariat.
