Recent Activities

 Learning workshop on Constitute Assembly
Idea Action with the co-operation of its local partner’s organizations organized one day learning workshop on Constitute Assembly in Nuwakot District on 2nd June 2007. Chief Guest Honorable Rajendra Prakash Lohani, Member of Parliament inaugurated the programme. The objective of this programme is to make people aware about up coming constituent assembly and its purpose. President of Idea Action Mr. Shakti Ghimire and Consultant Er. Bed P. Bhattarai were resource person and young journalist Madhav Raj Tiwari  presented a concept paper in the programme.
 
ICT Training for youth                                     
It is a rural youth focused regular programme of Idea Action (IA). Its aim is to develop skilful human resources    & increase literacy rate on ICT. It encourages rural youths for self and equal employment opportunities through ICT Training. IA selects youths from its local partner’s organizations and provides training in Katmandu, Nepal.
 
Interaction and Training Program on Women Awareness
Idea Action with the collaboration of National Bio Gas Company, organized a one-day Interaction Program in Kohalpur of Bankey district to provide these women employing new and latest version of bio gas technology, operation and maintenance of entire plants.  Almost 60 women including some local leaders, social workers and other people participated in the Interaction Program. The chief guest, Er. Bed P. Bhattarai and Shashi Tara  were inaugurated the Program 28th September 2006.

Training on Human Rights and Good Governance
Idea Action with the co-operation of its local partner organization, Good Governance Clubs District Coordinating Committee organized two days programme on Human Rights and Good Governance training for youth awareness on 2nd – 3rd Sep, 2006  at Balkot in Nuwakot District of Nepal. The chief guest, Dr. Jivan Adhikari was inaugurated the Program.

Celebrated international youth day 2006
On August 12, International Youth Day was celebrated with excitement and enthusiasm among the youths of   Kathamandu. Different youth organizations working with the youths in collaboration with the department of Education and Sports of Nepal Government took out a Peace rally. Likewise, Idea Action and Idea Forum had participated in the rally and showed unity in the demands to be fulfilled.

Interaction program on the role of youths for peace society
On 11th November 2005, Idea Action had organized a one-day Interaction Program on the role of youth for developing a culture of peace and non voilent society in Bidur of Newakot district to provide youths an opportunity to speak directly to political leaders, NGOs, and other representatives of Nepali society.  Youths from rural areas where the conflict is taking place addressed the major factors that contributed to the violence as well as discussed how youths could become involved in building long-term peace.  Over 100 conflict victims of rural area participated in the Interaction Program.


Diffreent Activities on a long-term culture of non-violence
Idea Action, in collaboration with local partner organization has organized different activities to involve youths in working towards peace in their own communities in Karaputar of Lamjung District on 11th Oct 2005.
Peace Rally, Elocution on Peace and Human Rights, dramas, signature campaign, interaction programme on the role and responsibilites of youth for long lasting peace and so on.

Project of youth engaged programme
Idea Action has conducted one year youth engagement programe from 2004-2005. Idea Action believe that due to the lack of forum and opportunities unengaged and open minded youths are always the cause of conflict, violence and other negative activities in the society. This project's main objectives are to provide forum on knowledge, music, and sports for empowering youth and supporting their general activities for the overall development of society. As a result they will develop a culture of peace and non- violence society. In this period Idea Action has given their hands in local development, education awareness, human rights promotion, volunteer mobilization, creative and knowledgebale competitions and many more .

Sports programs for youth engagement
One of Idea Action’s main objective is to provide sports program that empower youth and actively engage them in peace-building efforts at the community level. This project’s main objective is to provide forums on sports to empower youth on peace-building, peace-making, peace-keeping as well as protect themselves form violence. Idea Action donated uniforms, footballs, volleyballs and other sports equipments to the Green Valley Club. Similarly,  it organized diffrent game competition in lamjung.

Project Music for Peace
Idea Action’s other main objective is to organize a musical programs and drama that empower youth and actively engage them in peace-building efforts at the community level. On
7th Jan 2005, Idea Action had organized a street show and musical program in order to increase awareness about human rights and HIV/AIDS among youths and young adults.  A total of 350 people attended the show, entitled "human rights for peace" and "Save Yourself as well as others from HIV/AIDS".  The objective of the show was not only to entertain but also provide basic information on human rights, peace, and youth issues, HIV and AIDS, such as what the disease is, how it is communicated, preventative measures and treatment options.

 
Special Initiatives

  •  Launch of Idea Forum: Idea Forum is a project of Idea Action, empowered by ICT. It connects the world, creating endless opportunities, collaborate the people and is concerned to change their society and the world. It provides forum for global people and organizations where they can interaction each other, post articles, events information, make partnership and so on. They can post their local and global issues in Forum and Blog. Similarly, they can send e-cards on peace, human rights, youth and other social issues. The web site has gained recognition worldwide and earned reputation in a resourceful centre. www.ideaforum.org
     

  • Launch of WSIS Youth South Asia: WSIS Youth South Asia was established in 2003 in collaboration with other youth led ICT institutions to deal with ICT and youth issues in the region. Idea Action has been hosted its secretariat since 2004.

  • Launch of WSIS Youth Nepal: Similarly it has also lunched WSIS Youth Nepal.

Regular Activities
2.1 Website: Idea Action has a maintained web site, which is frequently updated. The web site has gained recognization worldwide.
2.2 Catering 'information for awareness' through E-Bulletin, Websites and Articles
2.3 Conducting action researches on various ICT, Development and social topics.
2.4 ICT Support: Idea Action has supported webpage and multimedia sections for several community base organizations. Similarly, It was involved in ICT Syllabus Development.
2.5 Youths’ awareness: Idea Action organizes programs in raising Youths’ awareness in different times in the country. It had organised a seminar in which the participants discussed about the appropriate ICT that the country needed.
2.6 Study on the Youth Tele-Centre: Idea Action conducted comprehensive research to reveal the facts about Youth Tele-Centre situation through a study of Youth Tele-Centre Nepal
2.7 Study on the Rural Communication: Idea Action has made a draft about Rural Connection through Internet
2.8 Youth Tele-Centre: Idea Action provides low cost internet access and free of cost information from its partner organizations.
2.9 ICT Training Centre: Idea Action imparts ICT education to the under-privileged communities. Participatory approach is followed for the ICT education courses offered with literacy as an entry point. The ICT education programme is supported through training from local volunteers. These programmes have left meaningful impact for the creation of changes in the  agents at the local level, hence to boost the support for people’s empowerment. Idea has managed ICT training programmes through its partner organizations for different organizations and poor people.
2.10 Monitoring of the national and international ICT Actions: Idea Action have been  observing and monitoring lots of national and international ICT Actions and studied national and international policy and strategy. .
2.11 Information collection and dissemination system: Idea Action has developed national mechanism for the purpose of collecting relevant ICT related informations. This method is also useful in the dissemination of information for wider public awareness.
2.12 Establishment of ICT organisations at the district levels: Idea Action has promoted establishment of ICT organisations in some districts of Nepal, including the most remote areas. It has been playing supportive role in strengthening their capacities.
2.13 Collaborative partnership and  relation with the organisations working in the field of ICT, youth and human rights: Idea Action has developed collaborative relation with the similar minded organisations for co-ordinating and greater impacts. In this context, it has joined hands with the UN agencies, INGOs, NGOs, GOs, Trade Unions, Academics and the international ICT and Media Organisations, as for example, One world South Asia,
United Network of Young Peacebuilders, WSIS, WSIS South Asia. This organisation has also been building relation with the ICT Community performing co-ordinating roles.
